Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency

Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency is dual AOA-ACGME-accredited 5-5-5 program. Click here to find it on Mapquest.

They offer the opportunity to draw from the best of two training environments: Winchester Medical Center (WMC) in Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA, and Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal, VA.

WMC is a state-of-the-art regional hospital. It is a 408 bed referral hospital that draws from a very diverse population from four states—Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Residents spend most of their OGME-1 year working side by side with highly respected board certified specialists at WMC, returning for specialty rotations in the OGME-2 and OGME-3 years.

Residents spend their OGME-2 and OGME-3 years at the 18,000 sq. ft. Front Royal Family Practice Center and Warren Memorial Hospital, a 131-bed community hospital including an attached long-term care facility. This small town hospital plays a vital role in meeting the needs of Front Royal (pop. 12,500) and the surrounding rural areas.

Their success in training is reflected by where the residents choose to practice: as of June 09, 41 total graduates, 18 in small town/rural practice, 9 in solo practice, 23 practicing in Virginia, and 10 practicing within the local health system.
